I am Spartacus; An Unequivocal Recommitment to Free Speech

An “I am Spartacus” declaration, offered in memory of Charlie Kirk—who bore himself with steadfast courage and grace in defense of these sacred principles, and who, for his fidelity, just paid the ultimate price.

I pledge:

  1. To think and speak my conscience—freely, fearlessly, and without equivocation.
  2. To defend your right to think and speak your conscience—freely, fearlessly, and without equivocation, even when I profoundly disagree.
  3. To confront bad ideas, not with suppression or violence, but with better ones—freely, fearlessly, and without equivocation.

May this heartsick week give rise to a great tide of introspection and renewed devotion to these commitments.

In hope and in love,
Hanno
